Would you not agree that traveling the world is possibly one of the most exciting things to do in anyone’s lifetime?
At IGO Travel we strive to get you to your favourite dream location armed with as much information as possible, so with this in mind we decided to ask our well-travelled consultant Waseela a few questions on her latest adventure to Dubai.
Q) What were your favourite experiences & which of those would you recommend visiting in Dubai?
A) A Dhow Cruise Dinner – this is the most loved evening thing to do in Dubai with the most incredible views of the city, add to that the Dune Desert Safari – which offers Dune bashing, camel rides, sand boarding, belly dancing to name a few of the many activities that are offered on these adventures… these are absolute winners!
The View on the roof top at Nakheel Mall (which is a new destination at the heart of the world-famous Palm Jumeirah) here you will find the best in dining, shopping, leisure and entertainment, using the Monorail down “The Palm” to get there was lovely.
Burj Khalifa- this is the world’s tallest building and has exhilarating views over the Arabian Gulf, a definite go see!
Museum of the Future (what will the world look like in 2071? Embark on a journey into the future and find out for yourselves), what an amazing experience, you do have to buy tickets beforehand to secure your spot!
Another must visit is Ain Dubai the world’s biggest and tallest Ferris wheel located on the “Bluewaters Island” it has the best view of the city! Madame Tussauds is an “Insta-Feed” Must!!
Q) What would you say is a “MUST DO” for first time visitors? ie: Sights, Shopping, Dining etc.
A) All of the above and especially a visit to the Dubai Mall, there are a lot of hotels that do shuttles to the mall so that’s easy!
Q) How long would you say you would need to spend in Dubai to enjoy and experience what Dubai has to offer?
A) I think you would need a minimum of 4-5 nights easily, as there is so much to see and do in this vibrant city. It caters for all ages and you will never be bored!
Q) What were your favourite hotels and locations that you would suggest for the South African traveller looking for a quality experience?
A) “Rove La Mer” this hotel is a must for people that want a “beach holiday” (it’s very similar to Mauritius) with something for everyone, including a number of restaurants, shops and kids’ entertainment just a stroll away to the other side of the beautiful beach.
The new “Atlantis the Royal” – this hotel defines luxury in the extreme! Definitely better suited for couples, young vibey peeps and those that want a pure luxury venue that caters to the “Trendy Gang”, the original Atlantis is great too but again more suited to the “family style” holiday still catering for those seeking the best of luxury but just a little more family orientated!
“Jebal Ali” is a very nice “All-Inclusive” package hotel (again very much like Mauritius) but if you are keen on doing some of the destination tours it may be just a little too far in location.
The “25 Hours” Hotel is a new 5* hotel near the “Musem of the Future” with a great central location!
For the budget traveller a great option would be “Ibis Deira” this was excellent if you want to be in Bur Dubai, very clean and neat.
Q) For the more discerning traveller, Dubai has some exclusive hotels – which of these did you see/visit and can you offer your recommendations?
A) The “Atlantis Royal” was absolutely stunning! The “Four Seasons” in the Financial District was so conveniently located, beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and great service. We visited the “Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach” for the day and that was absolutely gorgeous and very “resort like”, you can do this if you are staying at the ‘city hotel’ which is a nice plus.
