MEQUFI BEACH RESORT, PEMBA – MOZAMBIQUE

Thank you to Plan Hotels, Diamonds Mequfi and Mozambique Airlines for hosting me on the most incredible trip!  The staff were delightful – thank you Allesandro, Dina, Sumail, Abbas, Biaqu and team.

Located in the beautiful northern coast of Mozambique, Mequfi Beach Resort (formerly Diamonds Mequfi) is about 45 minutes from Pemba via 4×4. You can reach Pemba with Mozambique airlines from OR Tambo via Maputo to Pemba. It was a comfortable 1 hour flight from ORT to Maputo and 2 hours to Pemba. The transit in Maputo is very quick and the staff were great leading us from one area to the next. (TIP: When travelling from Jo’burg winter – pack some shorts or a summer dress to change into as it is way too hot to travel in denims!).  (Airlink also flies directly to Pemba).

On arrival, enjoy a lovely welcome with delicious juice & cold towels. After your journey to the resort, you can enjoy a tantalising array of choices at the lunch buffet, including seafood and their famous Pasta station, accompanied by free flowing beverages in the all-inclusive package.

For a little fun, take to the water on a Kayak or SUP – it’s not hard and great to work off some of the delicious food. Enjoy early walks along the stunning beach, scattered with shells and corals washed up onto the shore. The scenery is great for the budding photographer! The glorious Indian ocean entices for a refreshing and relaxing swim. The resorts stunningly big and beautiful swimming pool beckons for a lovely dip & laze under the umbrellas with delicious cocktail in hand! (You may even be coaxed into a little water aerobics or volleyball with resort entertainment specialist Biaque!)

Dinner is served as either buffet as part of all inclusive or, at a supplement you can enjoy a 4 course set menu at the Sea You Restaurant for a little more formal affair. After dinner, socialise with the guests, play some cards or dominoes and enjoy a lovely nightcap at the pool bar, before retiring to your luxuriously appointed and beautifully airconditioned room with wifi & TV if you so desire. Rest & Repeat.
