Do you have basic complimentary travel insurance on your credit card?
One of the biggest perks of having a credit card in your pocket is the complimentary travel insurance that also comes with it. While it’s a great freebie, the fine print can be a killer and there would be nothing worse than being mid-trip and finding yourself wondering whether or not you have cover. In order to qualify, you need to purchase an air ticket or a cruise departing from and returning to South Africa; with your credit card.
As the complimentary cover provides basic insurance, you have the option to supplement this cover by buying additional top-up cover, which provides a wider range of benefits and caters for longer trips.
Important Note: When you purchase any travel arrangements on your credit card; it is best to contact your bank / the insurer to find out what is automatically included and how you can increase the benefits by buying additional cover. You will also be able to request your policy documentation which will include your embassy letter, policy wording and important contact information.
Important benefits which your travel insurance should cover you for (but not limited to):
We highly recommend that you take out top-up cover in addition to your credit card insurance.
Alternatively, you can purchase comprehensive travel insurance from us from as little as R540* per person for up to 9 days if you are under 69 years of age.
